This Glass is Half Full

Just got back to Hong Kong from Beijing. The highlight? The Great Wall of China. We went to an unrestored section, Gubeiko, and we were the only group (about 25 people including 3 guides) on the trail that day.

It was a great escape from the hustle of the city and relief from the incredible pollution.

Finally made it on the train!

So we’re supposed to be on a train right now, headed towards Denver. Instead Micah and I are on a bus going to Reno because for whatever reason the California Zephyr did not make it to California this morning and we have to pick it up in Nevada.

Apart from being disappointed that one fourth of the trip will be on a not -as - cool -as -a -train bus, I’m also annoyed that no one told us even when we checked in our bags. We were waiting at the platform for almost hour and thought we’d ask where we can expect to board because there were absolutely no signs or any information on what trains were arriving and when. The guy who checked our bags then told us that the train isn’t coming and we need to head outside for the bus… No wonder people don’t take the train very often. Oh well, at least we’ll still catch the most scenic routes via train!
